Connect to Education Organizations

Learn about and link to professional associations that cater to educators who are interested in technology products and services. Many of these associations sponsor conferences and offer vendors a wide range of opportunities to interact with their members through publications, events, mailings, and more. The following are good sources of segment-specific and educational technology information:

International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) - ISTE is an association that provides information and resources to K-12 educators involved with technology. ISTE members have access to a variety of publications, conferences, and courses focused on technology for schools.

Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) - The Association for Educational Communications and Technology provides leadership in educational communications and technology by linking professionals holding a common interest in the use of educational technology and its application to the learning process. Membership includes technology coordinators, media specialists, and other educational technologists.

American Association of School Administrators (AASA) - The primary professional association for district superintendents, the AASA has over 16,500 members from North America and in many other countries. The four major focus areas for AASA are: Improving the condition of children and youth; Preparing schools and school systems for the 21st century; Connecting schools and communities; Enhancing the quality and effectiveness of school leaders. AASA sponsors national and regional conferences and workshops. It publishes a monthly magazine, and is associated with a chapter in virtually every state in the country. The AASA web site has links to current issues forums, state chapters, and other valuable information to anyone who wants to understand the business issues facing the major decision makers in K-12 districts.

Council of Chief State School Officers - Members head departments of elementary and secondary education in every state. The CCSO develop consensus on major education issues and advocate their position with Congress, the President, and federal agencies. CCSSO creates and conducts seminars and workshops for its members and their management teams. It publishes a weekly newspaper and holds an annual conference for its members.
